Budapest: Right Extremist Director for Hungarian New Theatre

The famous Uj Szinhaz (New Theatre) in Budapest is getting new directors: Mayor Istvan Tarlos (Fidesz) is inaugurating Istvan Csurka (MIEP) and György Dörner as the new Intendants of the Theatre.
Csurka had supported mayor Tarlos at recent elections and is cited to be antisemitic (tagesschau.de) and claiming a Zionist world conspiracy (Welt.de) and even to be a fascist (taz.de) and a detailed political analysis cites even allegations of Israeli spy planes over Hungary (pusztaranger).
One of Csurka’s most spectacular sayings, these days, was:
“I will of course bring my dramas on the stage, and those of other Hungarian writers,” says Csurka. “I want to make great national theater and do not reflect the Western trash – the Tingli-Tangli from New York.”

The social-liberal opposition sees the background of a political deal between the ruling party Fidesz and Csurkas right-wing party. According to the opposition, Orban’s government wants to attract voters with Csurka, opening a front against the parliamentary right-wing Jobbik party at the same time, which is becoming stronger and stronger.
